Places to visit by motorbike in Majorca: Alcudia

Medieval walls, white sandy beaches, traditional markets. A journey through history, art and the sea on a Ducati.

Bike and Culture

During one of your ‘DUCATI EXPERIENCE IN MALLORCA’ you can set aside time to enjoy a mix of nature, art, history and the sea: Alcudia and the nearby Port of Alcudia are perfect stops.
Alcudia, which is 58 km from Palma airport and our Ducati motorbike rental, can be reached in just over 40' via the MA-13 motorway. As usual, we advise you to forgo the motorway routes and prefer secondary roads, which are always more interesting. In fact, there are a couple of alternatives that skirt the Serra de Tramuntana that make the drive to Alcudia very enjoyable. Located in the northeast of Mallorca, it sits on a peninsula between two bays, one of which has a very long sandy coastline.
Founded by the Romans with the name Pollentia, it consists of a medieval Moorish centre built on a small hill and the more recent area, Port de Alcudia, overlooking the bay of the same name.
Destroyed by Vandal incursions, with the arrival of the Arabs in Mallorca the city was completely rebuilt by the Moors who, precisely because it was built on a hill, gave it the name ‘Al Kudia’ meaning ‘on the hill’.
Alcudia
To visit the historic centre of Alcudia, you can leave your Ducati in the dedicated motorbike parking area (P MOTOS) next to the Porta de la Vila Roja on Avinguda Príncep d'Espanya or in the one in Plaza de la Puerta de Mallorca.
In this way, you can pass through one of the gates of the medieval walls and lose yourself in the narrow streets of the old town, lined with shops, craft workshops and restaurants serving local cuisine. We recommend walking up the walls to get a bird's-eye view of the town!

The most recent nucleus, Porto de Alcudia, faces the sea and is located on the bay of the same name, which further south is called Playa de Muro. It is precisely this white sandy beach, suitable for family tourism and several kilometres long, that was awarded one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world by the Tripadvisor platform in 2025.

By walking a few paths, it is also possible to reach from Playa de Muro the Albufera nature reserve, the largest wetland on the island and a protected natural area.

Alcudia is the starting point for enjoying nature and is an undisputed destination for professional and amateur athletes from all over the world. In May, it is the setting for the famous ‘Ironman’ triathlon.

The roads that easily connect it to the rest of the island make Alcudia a complete destination, full of many offers and logistically strategic for its location.
Cap-Formentor-route
Covering 25 kilometres on the MA 2210 and then the MA 2220, you will arrive at the spectacular Cap Formentor lighthouse, a popular destination for all bikers. Before reaching the lighthouse, stop a few kilometres before at the Mirador Es Colomer and don't forget to visit the beautiful Formentor beach. (IMPORTANT: the last stretch of road leading to the lighthouse is closed to private traffic from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. in June-July-August-September).

You can also visit the markets held weekly in these two localities.
Inside the walls of the city of Alcudia, in the old town, on Tuesdays and Sundays, from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., there is a market for local products and handicrafts. Here you are sure to find the perfect souvenir to take with you as a souvenir of Mallorca or shop for local fruit and vegetables.

In the Port d'Alcúdia in Plaça de Cas Vicari, you will find the market on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. .

In addition, on the third weekend in April, the nautical fair takes place in the Port of Alcudia and the cuttlefish fair is held concurrently. On this occasion you can taste dishes prepared with this ingredient.

Before you go, always check the website of the relevant municipality for days and times!
