Ride the most fascinating roads in the north-east of Mallorca on one of our Ducati motorbikes and don't miss the stage to Artà
Motorbiking in Mallorca: a must-see itinerary to discover Artà and its surroundings
Discover Artà by motorbike: a journey through history and atmospheric landscapes
‘DUCATI EXPERIENCE IN MALLORCA’ not only aims to offer fantastic riding experiences on our best Ducati motorbikes on the most fun roads of the Balearic Islands. We also want to offer a combination of cultural, culinary and wine experiences and pure Mediterranean nature. It makes us particularly proud to promote this island and make it a regular destination for many motorcyclists.
One of our recommended motorbike destinations: Artá
If you want to discover the north-east of the island, we recommend a stop in the town of Artá.
From our shop, which is just 10 minutes from Palma airport, you can take the Ma-15, one of the island's main roads, to Artá. The journey is about 70 kilometres long and takes less than an hour (watch out for the speed controls).
Even though the motorways are the most practical way to get to your destination, you will appreciate the journey in Mallorca more if you choose one of the many side roads that are less busy and surrounded by nature. This is the only way to discover authentic views and enjoy the journey without rushing.
Artà is located in the north-east of the island of Mallorca, on the Levante peninsula, in the middle of a large green valley and at the foot of a small mountain. This area is particularly appreciated by lovers of peace and nature.

The town, whose name comes from the Arabic word ‘yartan’, which means garden, has managed to preserve its traditional character with its historic centre consisting of sandstone buildings that define the dense network of narrow streets.
We recommend that you park your hired Ducati in one of the free car parks provided by the municipality (P MOTOS). It's not easy to find a parking space in the Mallorcan pueblos, but it's easier with a motorbike.

The town is dominated by the walls of the medieval fortress of Sant Salvador. The pilgrimage church of Sant Salvador is one of the must-see sights if you have travelled as far as Artà (not to be confused with the pilgrimage church on the Puig de Sant Salvador near Felanitx). It was built in the 14th century and is surrounded by a wall. It can be reached from the village centre via 180 steps, on which a Way of the Cross is installed. The parish church of the Transfiguration of the Lord stands halfway up the chimney that leads to the sanctuary. The front of the church offers a picturesque view of the town.

It's a short walk uphill, but the view from the top makes up for all the effort, as it offers a wonderful panorama that stretches all the way to the coast. There is a bar in the inner courtyard of the monastery where you can enjoy a refreshing drink.
If you don't want to walk, you can also enjoy the view from the city centre by stopping at one of the many cafés with terraces, or take our rented Ducati to the adjacent car park, paying attention to the signs restricting vehicle traffic.

In the south-eastern part of the town is the 17th century Franciscan monastery of St Anthony of Padua.
Right next to the town hall is the regional museum, which is dedicated to the eastern region of Artà.
The quiet town of Artà comes to life every Tuesday during the weekly market. Here you can buy local food and wine products as well as handicrafts made from glass, ceramics and woven palm leaves. The traditional weaving of Mallorcan palm leaves continues here, which are used to make the characteristic bags for buying vegetables at the market!

When exploring the surroundings of Artà, it is worth taking a walk to the Talayotic archaeological settlement of Ses Païsses, which dates back to 850. This settlement is located around 400 metres south-east of the town and was classified and protected as a historical monument in 1946. In the direction of Capdepera is the old railway station, which houses the well-stocked tourist information office, which also sells local handicrafts. The information office is not always open, so you should check the opening times on the website before visiting.

Another must-see are the Coves de Artà (see the article about the cave tour on these pages), spectacular natural caves located along the coast that can be reached by motorbike right up to their entrance, passing the car and bus park. These caves offer a fascinating journey inside the rock, with stalactites and stalagmites that create an almost surreal atmosphere. The journey there by motorbike offers incredible panoramic views of the sea and makes the experience even more unforgettable. I recommend stopping there and taking souvenir photos.

The north of the municipality of Artà is occupied by the Natural Park of the Levante Peninsula, a protected area that can be reached via the MA-3333 to the Ermita de Betlem. The road to the Ermita de Betlem is not the easiest, mainly due to its narrow width, and if you collide with a car travelling in the opposite direction you could get into trouble, so be careful.
There are 14 beaches on the coast of Artà, some of the most beautiful and fascinating on the island. Some are located in nature reserves.
Always remember to respect and protect the environment!
